Artist Statement
‘Môr Plastig’ is welsh for ‘Plastic Sea’ and is a collection of still life colour photographs of plastic washed up on a small stretch of coastline in North Pembrokeshire, West Wales. The objects include plastic bottles, cleaning products, parts of crates, plastic bags, toys, shoes, bits of computers and small unidentifiable fragments etc.
Process Statement
I would describe my photographic approach as forensic. I am shooting the pieces at their actual size, straight on to camera and with flat neutral light. This is intended to bring an objectivity to the process allowing the viewer to decide how to interpret the objects and their stories.
